Paoay Church
The Philippines is home to hundreds of centuries old Spanish colonial churches. Built at the height of Spanish influence, these churches are a fusion of European and Asian architectural motifs.
St. Augustine Church, or more popularly known as Paoay church, is one of the oldest churches. Located in Ilocos Norte (north of the Philippines), construction started during the early 1700s and took a century to complete. It is
internationally acknowledged as one of the most unique examples of Filipino architecture from the Spanish period.
Paoay church has been included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
Another historical landmark in Ilocos Norte is Cape Bojeador Lighthouse. It is the highest lighthouse in the Philippines above sea level (around 160 meters high; tower height = 16.3 meters) and is located in the town of Burgos.
Set majestically on a hill overlooking the South China Sea, it was built in 1892 and is still functioning now, serving ships passing by the northern part of South China Sea.
Built of locally made brick, the tower is octagonally-shaped and has an inner dimension of two meters and an exterior dimension of three and half meters.
