The Vision
WRITING A BOOK ON OUR FAMILY LIFE AND HISTORY
(Excerpt from 1st Letter)
y Blood Brethren and Kins:
To form a part our Family memorabilia, the idea of publishing a kind of book on our family tree keeps nagging my mind. You might not have known about it, but even before our 1983 family, reunion at Manong Bano's SSS Marikina, residence, I sent
letter feelers to Manong Bano and Manong Temio about the plan but failed to prosper for their inability to give the needed financial assistance and the gathering of the needed information and data.
This time I feel more confident that the project will be pushed through with your collective and individual backing and support, maskin papano, in whatever form and substance. Unless, of course there are serious constraints outside our
control, and which with God's blessing may not be as serious as they appear.
My over-riding objective is to produce the BOOK within minimum standards of book production in the quality of its contents (substance) style of writing, over-all format, when and where to use exposition, narration, persuasion, description, form;
in short, the essential elements of effective writing: logic, organization, unity, coherence, purpose, audience or readers, style, etc.
(Excerpt from 5th Letter)
et us all make a commitment to support and act on this project which had been and still is my obesession since our 1983 family reunion for failure to harness a joint cooperative effort. I
hope it
is not "too late the hero", as Manong Bano would taunt me everytime I would still propose a new idea. It could be later than we think. But the seeming lateness of the hour may actually be the reason of the success that it shall be this time.
Good luck and happy starting and doing without looking back...With just one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent PERSPIRATION. Quit moaning, "I don't have anything to write about." Quit kvetching. You know far more than you think you do.
He/she is not a Tangonan who says "I can't."
The initial expense if shared within our means will be minor. And who knows, it may, in the long run, turn out to be a self-liquidating project. And what of its added value as a great experience and legacy.

hank you so much for your Yahoo mails, which came just in time to revive my original plan to write a book of our family history...
Without my asking for it you surprised me with something that will resurrect my original plan to include everybody.....meaning everybody will be there.
I can assure you of my full support and cooperation, and God permitting, I will start writing you a series of what I can still recall and research. Pray, I could still manage to do so. For I must also hasten to tell you that my physical energy
and capability, now limits, so much the many things I would still want done before my time is up. From my knees down, or sometimes even up, my feet, legs, and even upper limbs would swell. Sometimes even other aches would erupt without warning.
Mabuti na lang nga at Erwin is around most of the time.
Without your sudden intervention, I think it will not have the least of a chance, and that instead of autumn and winter, it is SPRING and a BLOOMING SUMMERTIME, not only for the vision to turn to reality, but also for my heart to metamorphose from
a worm to a butterfly. And never mind if we have only a few hours before sunset, because as for me, I'll have ETERNITY TO CELEBRATE IT.
THANK YOU AND MORE POWER!
DIONISIO I. TANGONAN
